Transformative School Leadership Program at Iowa State University

The Transformative School Leadership Program (TSLP) at Iowa State University School of Education offers a Master's in Educational Administration with Licensure Recommendation. Unit Name Goes Here School of Education M.Ed. in Educational Administration with Licensure Recommendation Transformative School Leadership Program (TSLP) The Iowa State University TSLP program prepares equity-focused leaders to transform their PK-12 organizations through developing socially just and collaborative learning communities. Our program is committed to systemic educational change that enables all stakeholders to individually and collectively address inequities to promote the learning of all students. To be eligible for licensure, candidates must have a teaching license.

The TSLP Program Prepares Candidates Who:  Recognize the relevance of context in learning;  Understand that theory and practice are tightly coupled;  Engage in authentic field experiences;  Act as administrative leaders (e.g. Teacher Leaders, Principals, SAMS, Curriculum and Student Services Directors);  Design and execute a School Improvement Project (SIP) that demonstrates mastery of state and national administrative standards;.  Adopt an equity & social justice understanding. The Transformative School Leadership Program (TSLP): • Is a 5-semester, 30-credit, cohort-based master’s program • Leads to recommendation for principal licensure and supports teacher leadership • Culminates with a student- designed and implemented School Improvement Project School of Education School of Education

TSLP Design for Working Professionals The Transformative School Leadership Program is committed to:  Maintaining a focus on equitable and socially just leadership development;  Remaining sensitive to work and family concerns by offering flexible learning experiences;  Supporting the social and emotional health by offering live online (synchronous) and self-paced (asynchronous) experiences. TSLP Connects Research and Practice  By developing authentic field experiences based on feedback from practitioners.  By providing mentoring from leaders in the field and ISU faculty.  By facilitating a student-designed School Improvement Project to address a Problem of Practice.   8. TSLP Curriculum The TSLP program meets the requirements for Iowa Administrative Code. Future leaders must complete 400 hours of field experiences for administrative licensure. You will complete these hours via your SIP, in coursework, and in working with your mentors. All courses are three credits, and two courses will be taken every semester.
