  6. Implementation with COTS • Programming Languages: Java/C++/html/… • Database Management System: Versant Object-oriented database • OS platforms: UNIX/Windows • C2C and internal Inter-Process Communication: Iona CORBA “Orbs”

  7. Gateway C2C Interface Components • Gateway Data Object Model (GDOM) - defines data format • Gateway Message Oriented Middleware (GMOM) - defines data exchange mechanism • All defined in CORBA • Interface Definition Language

  8. Gateway Data Object ModelUses Standards • TMDD – Traffic Management Data Dictionary • MS/ETMC2 – Message Sets for External Traffic Management Center Communication • LRMS – Location Referencing Message Specifications • Southern California Priority Corridor ShowCase Project

  9. GDOM Location Resolution Based on the LRMS Standard Referencing Methods: • Cross Street • Mile Post • Address • Coordinate • Ramp • Geometry or SegmentID based Types: • Point • Section • Lane

  11. Gateway Message Oriented MiddlewareGMOM • Defines a Publisher/Subscriber model based data exchange protocol • Based on CORBA Event Service • Uses a sophisticated Mediator Channel

  12. Gateway’s Use of XML • Gateway now publishing real-time data in XML Schema file. • XML data file made available to external users via protected WebPages. • Gateway XML Schema similar to J2354 ATIS standard

  13. Summary • The GCM Gateway TIS is a complex system providing real-time traveler information to the public and agencies in a 3-state metropolitan region. • Gateway was developed by applying available standards. • The C2C CORBA standard is the basis for integration and interoperability with a wide variety of systems. • Gateway will be a primary data source for the Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana 511 Systems.
