  5. Public Response • Earth Day • Restoration projects were begun and a national clean up

  6. Consumer Movement • Ralph Nader • 1966- National traffic & Motor Vehicle Safety Act • 1967- Wholesome Meat Act: food safety • “Nader’s Raiders”: youth activists investigating gov’t corruption

  7. **Many people are still involved and continuing to work for the protection of our environment
