Why do I need a portfolio? • Florida D.O.E. requires a Portfolio to graduate from the EPI program as proof you have mastered the Educator Accomplished Practices. • It gives you a professional collection of materials to use in telling perspective employers about your accomplishments. • …If you don’t complete a Portfolio, you can’t get your Professional teaching certificate.

  3. How do I make a PORTFOLIO? • You will be loaned “Professional Portfolios for Educators” to serve as a guide. Traditional Portfolio (3 ring binder)

  4. How do I make a PORTFOLIO? • You will also be given access to the www.facts.org web site that provides an online Portfolio program that will help structure your documents and other materials into a complete ePortfolio. Online Portfolio F.A.C.T.S.

  5.   6. When do I submit my PORTFOLIO? • As you take your last class, fine tune your Portfolio. • Email Chuck Ebert and ask him to do a preliminary review of your work. • At the end of your last class submit your Portfolio (Email your login and password to chuck.ebert@sfcollege.edu).

What you need to get started • Your SFC student “id” number • Your SFC eSantaFe “pin” number • Your Resume (either a hard copy or word document) • List of References (could be on your Resume) Optional • List of courses you’ve taken with EAP Competencies • Examples of your work (course assignments, photo’s, artwork etc.) • Description of experiences you’ve had and how they relate to the EAP Competencies

  9. Getting Started • Log onto http://www.facts.org • Place your curser on college students (purple) in top row and click • Click on “Career Portfolio for Education (EPIs) ” at the center of the bottom row • Click on the “Create/Edit Portfolio” button, under the Florida Students’ option.

  10. Is this your first time logging on? • Click on the “New user? Create login id and Password” • Make up a login “id” and “password” (i.e. “bobsmith” and “g8torb8”) • Enter them and then click on the “continue” button. • Enter the requested information for your security profile and click “submit”

Choose “Santa Fe” from the drop-down menu and enter your student id and pin number. • Your “id” is your student id from SFC. • Your “pin number” is what you use to logon to your SFC Open Campus account. • If you have never accessed the SFC eSantaFe site, your “pin number” is a six digit number composed of your birth month, day, and last 2 digits of the year. (February 12, 2006 is 021206) • If you can’t remember your id or password then click on “Forgot FACTS login id or password”. You will be asked several security questions from your previously entered Profile and then given your id and password. If you previously entered information that is not showing up, go to the section on Customizing your Portfolio and follow the directions there.

  12. Check List for FACTS Data Entry • Scan any paper documents into computer files • Rename files to describe their content • Login to FACTS • Go to the Artifacts Section • Upload all your Artifacts (documents) 1 of 2

Go to the Competencies Matrix Section • Enter 2 experiences per competency row (be sure and refer to the experiences by Name) • Enter a Profile (Welcome to my portfolio) • Enter your Resume • Enter references if they are not on your resume • Customize your Portfolio • Email Chuck Ebert and include your full login & pw (thomas.moffett@sfcc.edu) Jim Moffett 10/15/2008 2 of 2

  14. Record all Artifacts in this section!

  15. Note the “name of each artifact” and refer to it in the competencies matrix notes/description section.

  16. Remember: Record your Artifacts in the “Artifacts Section” and reference them “by name” to specific competencies in this section. You should have at least 2 (per row) for each competency.

  17. Before you logout! • In order to view (make it real!) any changes and/or additions that you have made to any of the sections, you must: • Customize Selected Portfolio by… • Selecting the portfolio on the main menu screen • Choose each section in which you have made changes • Click in the box next to each entry or example • Now, you can view it or give access to a perspective employer

  18. Customize it or you can’t see information you’ve added on Printouts!

  19. Any or all of these. If they aren’t selected they won’t show !
