What is Scotland’s Best? • Scotland's Best is an employability programme for 1,000 young people aged 16 to 24 being delivered by 5 stakeholder providers on a regional basis • It combines training and volunteering, with successful participants achieving a qualification at the end. • Many of the volunteering opportunities will tap into sporting and cultural events that Scotland will host in the next two years (2013-15). • Scotland's Best is the second part of the Scottish Government's £5m Legacy 2014 Young Persons' Fund. It will provide unemployed young people with the chance to gain valuable skills and experience to help their move into education, further training or employment and will offer 1,000 places over two years.

What do we Hope to Achieve? • Provide access to quality volunteering opportunities • for 1,000 young people aged 16-24 with priority given • to 16-19 year olds. • Provide accredited training at SCQF Level 4 (or • equivalent) as a minimum and certification of • employability or work-readiness. • Offer at least 20 hours of volunteering activity to each • candidate • Move young people along the employment pipeline • to get them work ready by offering different opportunities

  4. How does the Programme Work ? Young Person registers an interest via VS website, JCP, SDS Young Person moves into sustained work and volunteering as a natural progression for events and is registered with VS via volunteer card or V-Squared system Outcome 2 Young Person commits to programme Young Person gains SCQF Level 4 Employability Award via Vskills or other Young Persons move onto work or other training at SCQF Level 5 or above Person completes 20 hours of volunteering Milestone 1 Milestone 2 Outcome 1
