  3. Location - Where is it? • Relative location – where something is near Example– SMS is near Big Y, Amelia Park, Boys and Girls Club How will I remember this? - a relative is a close family member

  4. Place – What is it like there? Physical features – landforms, bodies of water, animal and plant life Examples – Lake George, Appalachian Mountains, Sahara Desert How will I remember this? - if it’s physical, it is part of nature

  5. Place – What is it like there? • Human features – man made structures • Examples - buildings, bridges, farms, roads • How will I remember this? – made by humans

  6. Regions Regions – areas on Earth with features that make them different from other areas Examples – Connecticut River Valley, Rocky Mountains, Cape Cod How will I remember this? - Sports have regional playoffs

  7. Economy • The way people use their resources to meet their needs • Example: money, trade, barter • How will I remember this: • The economy is bad, people don’t have extra money to spend. • Economy has the letters MONEY in it

  8. Movement – How? Why? People, products, and ideas move from place to place by transportation and communication Examples – people – car, plane, train - products – train, boat, plane, truck - ideas – email, phone, people
