  2. What is actually the daily center?

  3. The daily center for children with special needs and difficulty in their mental power make provision for daily care, many workable actions, treatments and other activities for their independency and involvement in the everyday life

Support of the children and the youngsters • There is organized transport and food for the children. • Children’s day is organized in many activities such as: • -stimulation for their mental development; • -sanitary habits; • -workable habits; • -socialization and integration through many activities oriented to the community • Family support • First of all the kid’s families are consulted of their children abilities of mental power so they can be given the appropriate care. • Opening and location of the Daily Center • The Daily Center for the children with special needs started its work on the first of March 2006. It is located on the Marshal Tito Street. The building is situated on a place which provides easier integration and collaboration with the other institutions in the local environment.

  7. From its very beginning the Daily center is fitted with the appropriate equipment, recreational facilities and toys for the children. The daily Center got all this equipment thankfully to the Ministry for Labor and Social Policy, the Finland government in cooperation with the office of UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund), Educate, and Jan and Aleman from Nederland. • Space • Entering the Daily Centre you get a feeling of family atmosphere. There is a park outside with playground where usually most of the outside activities are held.

Transportation • The kids get to the Daily Centre by taxi -,,Andrej company ,, - Pehcevo. • Food • The food for the children is prepared in the Kindergarten ,,23 August,, in Berovo. • Employees • -graduate educator for children with special needs; • -graduate pedagogue; • -graduate physiotherapist • - two nurses

  9. Life and work in the Daily Center

  10. Working hours • The employees work eight hours per day from Monday to Friday. The children who stay at the daily centre arrive at 8 o’clock and leave at 2 o’clock p.m. taking in consideration that most of the children are from the nearby villages. • During the eight hours of work the following activities are realised: • -taking and getting home the children by taxi; • -children’s care; • -realisation of the program activities, • - working with the parents, • - working with the local community; • - meetings with the team; • - hygiene.

  11. Capacity of users • The number of users that the employees can work with and take a special care is 20-25. At the moment the daily Centre is visited by 13 users with different disabilities in mental power. The users are at the age of 14 to 33.

Structure of the users • The structure of the users according to the type of their disability is the following: • -moderately intellectual and physical disability; • - Seriously difficult intellectual and physical disability, • - combination of the two above, • - autism, • - cerebral paralysis; • - hard speech and pronunciation; • -damaged eyesight, • Beside these disabilities the users also may fight with chronically diseases, epilepsies etc.

  13. Forms and content of their work The work of the employee in the Daily Center is organized in many activities. The parents of the children and the local community are met with their program and the way of how the employees treat the users. • Activities in which the users are involved: • -individual and group work, • -year program made according to the users’ abilities

All the activities are divided in a few educational fields: • acquirement of hygienically-cultural habits; • boost of self-independence • meeting with the environment • elementary writing • development of communicative abilities; • development of cognitive abilities; • physical education • music education • art • acquirement of working habits • socialization • integration in the local community,

  15. 2. Activities with the parents • Beside the care of the children with special needs the Daily Center also have concern about how the parents feel about their child and help the parents to organize their life and do their everyday family and social duties.

There is a program specially made for the user’s parents divided in 4 trimestrials which aim is: • -realization of their everyday activities; • - encouragement of participation in realization of certain contents with the users, • - stimulation and support to surpass the situation and social isolation

  17. 3. Activities with the local community • The aims which refer to the local community are: • to build a sense of respect to the citizen with special needs; • collaboration and support • For realization of these targets there is a program divided in four trimestrials

  24. 7.Media • Activities which are held in and outside the Daily Center are recorded and media covered as a clear evidence that the institution exists

Part of the activities are realized in and outside the Daily Centre. • Activities which are held in the Daily Center are: • -birthdays and name days • -religious holidays such as Christmas, New Years Eve, Easter • Other meaningful holidays: New Year, Planet Earth Day, April fools day, Mother’s day, Ecology day, 24-th May 8-th September, 11-th October, 3-rddecember)

  26. Activities which are held outside the Daily Centre: -visits at the concerts; -visits at the museums -historical and cultural sightseeing -excursions (in and outside the town) -colaborations with Daily Centers from other towns such as Vinica, Delcevo, Shtip, KrivaPaalankaetc.)

  28. The employees in the Daily Center visit many special trainings, seminars and workshops. We pledge to realize and involve new projects and activities. Our best project is realized with the help of one international trainer from Nederland. With the implementation of this project The Daily center became part of the International Soft Federation, the net which support the institutions that take care of the people with special needs. According to this our center is first that managed to see the experiences and way of work in Europe. Recently we have made a suggestion of working with people with disabilities above the age of 26.

  29. In its seven years of existence and work of the center we can see positive changes in the users who visit it. More families are interested of letting their children to be taken a special care. All this is due to the great work of the employees and the love and care they give to the kids.
