  3. Bursary process background • Bursary process in place since November 2005 • Automated bursary system since July 2006 • System provides access via a web portal • Bursaries provided according to needs defined in the INSETA SSP

  4. Bursary process • Bursary application procedure is as follows: • Training provider registers the employers learners • Training provider gets approval once accreditation confirmed by INSETA • Training provider submitting of bursary application • Verification process, using bursary policy rules • INSETA approves bursaries • Automated electronic provider notification • Provider submits invoice and supporting documentation • INSETA conducts payment – according to PFMA and internal policies

  5. Bursary statistics – up to 31.03.2009 • 10 programmes available • 15 814 applications • 14 060 learners • 102 training providers • 2 081 lead employers

GOING FORWARD • REVIEW OF BURSARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM PWC NO LONGER MANAGES THE SYSTEM AND A HANDOVER IN PROCESS • PWC WILL STILL BE INSETA PROJECT MANAGER TO ENSURE CONTINUITY ON PROJECTS IN PROCESS • REVIEWING THE WAY BURSARIES ARE APPLIED FOR • PROVIDER VS EMPLOYER – WHO IS MORE SUITED TO APPLY??? • THE TYPES OF BURSARIES • SIMPLIFYING THE CURRENT PROCESS OF REGISTRATION • SUGGESTIONS WELCOME IN WRITING TO THE ACTING CEO BEFORE END OF APRIL 09
