  4. 5th Grade Math • NYS Standards Based Expressions Math Program • COMMON CORE State Standards • NYS MATH ASSESSMENT GIVEN APRIL 30th – May 2nd • Unit 1 Fractions (Adding & Subtracting) • Unit 2 Decimals • Unit 3 Fractions (Multiplying & Dividing) • Unit 4 Multiplication • Unit 5 Division • Unit 6 Operations & Problem Solving • Unit 7 Algebra, Patterns & Coordinates • Unit 8 Measurement & Data

  5. Math Practice & Technology • IXL - Supplemental web-based Math Problem Solving & Basic Fact Knowledge/ Speed practice • It is recommended that students practice for 45 minutes each week (home & school computers) • Xtramath.com, learnzillion and links on classroom website

Components of Literacy • Guided Reading: • Reading Comprehension Skills/ Mentor Texts/ Fluency/ AIMS Web • Differentiated Instruction/ Small Groups • Shared/ Paired Reading: • Core novels/ high interest/ BOOK CLUB • Reading Rewards Program / Reading Logs • Students need a novel to read at school/home at all times • Word Study/ Spelling • Weekly pre-test, Immunity, Safari, 100s CLUB! • NYS ELA Testing April 1st – 3rd
