Employee Recognition • IES Assistive Technology (AT) Team • Responsible for ensuring the SAP Enterprise system is accessible to the disabled community of end users employed within the Commonwealth enterprise. • Exhibits a high level of technical experience with various AT software programs designed to accommodate visual and mobility related disabilities. • Often sought out by Commonwealth entities outside of the Bureau of the IES because of their highly specialized expertise in the area of accessibility and usability for the disabled community. • Team members include: • Bruce Bickel • Mike Miedlar • Paul Furjanic • Sandy Marsiglia

  5. “Speak Up! …. Ask the People Filling In For the CIO” • I really like the speak up correspondence. However, I'd like to highly recommend spell & grammer check before sending. • Why are meetings held in the breakroom? More and more OIT groups are meeting in the breakroom. I could understand if there were not any conference rooms available, but I have noticed meetings in the breakroom when conference rooms are available. Please address this issue. Thanks! • What was the result of the work done by the Rentention and Recruitment group? This was something that was supposed to have been completed by this time.

IT Recruitment Committee • Objective: To identify challenges pertaining to IT Recruitment • and Retention and provide recommendations for • improvement. • Key Recommendations: • Lift IT recency requirements – Completed • Elimination of oral boards and opening of exam periods indefinitely • - PR 7-8-9 IT classes –currently open “Until Further Notice” (UFN) and • oral boards eliminated • - Examination process for PR 10-11-12 under review • Streamline the SCSC “Selective Certification Request” process • - Online IT skills inventory created • - In process of creating supplemental IT specific form as an attachment to SCSC “Selective Certification Request”

Key Recommendations (cont’d) • Provide for online completion and submission of the application • supplement for IT classes – Completed • List life reduced from 24 months to 12 months – Completed • Develop a more robust IT internship program – In process • Ongoing: • Oversight committee created to contribute to implementation efforts, • monitor outstanding issues, and address new concerns. • Provides periodic status reports to the IT Steering Committee.

IT Occupations Study • Collaborativeeffort – OA C&P, OA OIT, SCSC, CW Agencies • Address recruitment and retention issue • Goals: • - Modify or create new job specifications that accurately describe the work performed • - Ensure competitiveness of salaries • - Clearly define the technical, non-supervisory career path within each series • - Enhance recruitment efforts • - Improve selection processes • Phase 1 – Validate core concepts and leveling near completion. DCIO, CIO and HR Directors reviewing definitions, examples of work, and changes by job family • Phase 2 – Review KSAs and METs – January 2008 • Phase 3 - Salary study initiated January 2008
