  2. Objectives • To create a Parade for the Centennial Celebration that showcases the best diverse and entertaining entries. • To produce an entertaining event for both our live and television spectators.

Theme • Using the Theme presented by the Stampede Organization……”We’re Greatest Together”. • Looking for entries to showcase how they bring people together to form new communities. • “Calgary is a community that we all share and contribute to in a diverse number of ways. This year’s parade is a representation of the many forms in which people are brought together to build a stronger Calgary, Alberta and Canada”.

  4. Come Together….. • Come Together…….Through Creativity. • Come Together…….Through Community. • Come Together…….Through Celebration. • Come Together…….Through Heritage. • Come Together…….Through Giving.

  5. Through Creativity • Using creativity to bring together voice, music and movement and inspire others to do the same. • Questions to consider: • Does your group bring people together using music, voice or harmony? • Does your group bring people together through dance, the arts, or innovation?

  6. Through Community • Bringing together different groups with a common goal to Learn, Share and Grow. • Questions to consider: • Does your group bring people together using education, cultural activities or exchanges?

  7. Through Celebration • Representing, sharing and Celebrating achievements, Passions, Goals and Accomplishments. • Questions to consider: • Is your group celebrating an award or achievement? • Is your group have a specific goal that brings people together? • Does your group have a hobby or interest that brings individuals together?

Through Heritage • Sharing history to help foster understanding and bringing people together to help build a stronger foundation for the future. • Questions to consider: • Is your group sharing a historical milestone? • How does your group use its past to help build a stronger future? • Does your group use it’s past to build understanding?

  9. Through Giving • Sustaining communities to nurture and support peoples passions and goals. • Questions to consider: • Is your group build communities through giving back to others? • Does your group have a focus that is about making communities stronger?

How can you improve your application? • Ensure your media information sheet clearly articulates how your corporation/group brings people together to form a community. • Have a clear rendering/picture attached. • Contact the parade committee to discuss your ideas…we are happy to consult. • Consider partnering with other groups. • Have a clear vision. • Ensure your application is completed in full.

  12. FAQ • What if we have previously contacted the committee about participation? What should we do? • The Parade Committee will be working to contact you with this information or feel free to contact us. • How many entries do you accept? • In recent years the committee has received in excess of 250+ applications, of those there are approximately 100 that are conditionally accepted into the Parade.

  13. FAQ • What if we have already submitted our application? • The coordinator responsible for the section you applied for will be in contact with you. • How long is the Parade? • The Parade running time is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.

  14. FAQ • Our group has been in the Parade for many years. Do we still need to apply? • Yes. Each Parade year, every entry has an equal opportunity for success in participating in the Parade. Our goal is to showcase the best entries. Like any parade year this year may include entries that have participated in the past and those that are new.

FAQ • How are entries selected each year? • Entries are selected during a committee process by which we review all applications and select the best from each category as indicated on your application. • When is the application deadline? • Friday March 16, 2012 at 4:00PM. • When will I know if I am successful in the application? • All applicants will be informed of the status of their application no later than April 15, 2012.

FAQ • What if my application is late? • Late or incomplete entries will not be considered for acceptance. • How can I apply? • Please visit our website at www.calgarystampedeparade.com and click on the Parade Entrants and Application Process. There are two ways to apply, you may complete our online application or download a copy and send it to us (must received by Stampede Head Quarters prior to deadline March 16 @ 4:00 pm).
