So why blow off that investment on a crappy, half-baked, cheapskate resume that turns off readers and buries your chances for an interview? Donald Burns, National Resume award winner

  12. Chronological: • Documenting work experience, duties/responsibilities beginning with the most recent. • Functional: • Collection of your qualifications categorized in skills areas or functions. • These areas are organized in order of relevance and/or importance. • Composite: • Combination of the chronological and functional formats. • Documents functional skills and related qualifications. • Followed by a reverse-chronological employment history. • Electronic: • Companies require the applicant to complete on-line forms with education, experience, work history and skills. • Proof read carefully – no capacity to spell check. 20. New Innovations

  21. Video Resume = Visual • Graphic Resume = Flow chart • Auctor Vitae = Written -Past, Present & Future New Innovations

  22. Da Vinci authored and actualized many achievements in his life time and also authored and left many of his aspirations to future generations to actualize. Your past is linked to your career path, and reaches out to the future. Don’t just record the past (résumé “to summarize”). Be the author of life events. Auctor Vitae. Definitions

  23. Graphic Resume

  24. Graphic Resume

  25. Graphic Resume

  26. 1980’s and 1990’s • Video resumes were recorded and distributed on VHS tapes. Because of limited availability of resources, production time and value were difficult to attain. As a result, video resumes during this span were not as prevalent. • 2000’s • Video resumes were beginning to pick up in popularity once the Internet became ingrained into everyday life. During this time, online video creation and sharing became much easier with tools like webcams and YouTube. • 2012 • Platforms, like Spark Hire, catered to creating and sharing video resumes easily and efficiently now make it possible for anyone in any field to apply with their own Profile Video. • Why should I use one? • Video resumes are an enhancement, not a replacement, to the traditional resume. As such, they offer the chance to expand and show the skills you have to offer, not just to recite what’s already on your resume. In fact, your 60 second video resume can give you a better chance to get noticed by employers, as paper resumes are only looked by recruiters for up to six seconds before a decision is made. • What do employers get from it? • Aside from finding out what skills and work you’ve accomplished, video resumes also reveal facets of your personality a paper resume simply can’t communicate. Employers often use it as a pre-screening tool to evaluate your “fit” into their company, or if you’re aligned with their attitudes, values, and mission. History of the Video Resume

  27. By the time the resume is finalized, it may have been written several times & have different versions, this is OK. Make sure the resume has been proof read by several people = NO Mistakes. Always have an updated resume! After all the work, what is the purpose of the Resume? “To generate curiosity so someone will want to speak with you!” Resume
