WE DISCUSS THE VARIOUS DIFFERENT SCENARIOS THAT COULDY POTENTIAL OCCUR AS WE GET READY FOR HAJJ 2021 Following the postponement of Hajj 2020 for the first time in the history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the question on everyone’s lips is “will Hajj 2021 take place”? Although there is uncertainty over Hajj 2021 due to the coronavirus, it is not all doom and gloom just yet. Last year, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia suspended all Umrah pilgrimages from March 2020, with restrictions only lifted for Hajj in 2020, where a select 1,000 pilgrims were privileged enough to perform the rites of Hajj following strict COVID protocols and social distancing. Fast forward to November 2020, where Umrah restrictions were then eased and international pilgrims could return. Since then, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has stated that it has facilitated Umrah for over half a million Umrah pilgrims without a single positive COVID-19 case, so the measures adopted appear to be working.
