  2. Elements of the Report • Title Page or Cover • Executive Summary • Table of Contents (with page numbers) • Background or Statement of the Problem • The Solution • Assessment of the Project • References or Appendices

  3. Requirements of the Report • All Pages are Typed and Numbered • All Pages are Bound Together…. Attractively • All Team Members Names are on the Report • The Report Must be Descriptive of the Project • 10 to 15 Pages ..Excluding the Appendices

  4. The Cover • Must be Eye Catching • Must Interest the Reader Enough to Want to Look Inside • Must Give the Potential Reader Hint of What is Inside

  7. The Executive Summary • Must Summarize the Report in a Page or Less • Must Have a Short Statement of the Problem (One Sentence) • Must Give the Results • Entice the Reader Into the Report but Give them Enough Information if They Don’t Read the Report

  9. Table of Contents • This lets the Reader Know how Long the Report is • Show the Reader Where the Parts of the Report are so that They can get there Easily • Note Photos..(optional) • Note Tables..(optional)

  11. Statement of the Problem(Background) • Tell the Reader What you are Going to do and set the Project in Perspective • …ie Where did Rube Goldberg come from • Remember This is your Mother or Dad Reading this….they don’t know why you are doing this

  12. The Solution • How Did the Team Conceive the Answer • Show the Reader the Development of the Project • Show Results of Calculations, or Testing that was Done • What was the Means to the End…testing, theoretical models, etc • Let the Reader Know what Happened

  13. The Solution • Use Pictures or Diagrams….One Picture is Worth a Thousand Words…. • Let the Reader Know What Resources you used…Mom, Dad, Private Consultant…. • Did you Incur Problems…???? • HOW DID THIS THING HAPPEN…

  14. Assessment of the Project • How Did the Project Go…Bad…Good… • What Would You do Different… • What was Good in the Project (strengths) • What was Bad in the Project (weakness) • Was it a Good or Bad Experience… Be Truthful

  15. References or Appendices • Who and What Did You Use in the Project • Any Supporting Documents….
