  20. Greek Positions – Sustainable Food Security Emphasis should be given to food industry, as a key driver for European growth. • SFS 8 : Resource-efficient eco-innovative food production and processing. A focus to traditional foods • SFS 15: Olive oil authentication and traceability • Improving food quality by developing devices, techniques and traceability systems for the direct monitoring of the quality features and security. • Development of green technologies and utilization of by-products of food industry and/ or activities of the primary sector for the production of high added value. Αθηνα, 16 Οκτωβρίου 2013

  21. Greek Positions – Blue Growth • Greece welcomes the specific theme on ocean observations but believes it would be better addressed if the scope would be expanded to all European Seas towards the development of a pan - European Ocean Observing System (EOOS) as proposed by the Ostend declaration (2010). Developing different systems at different regional Seas of Europe and with important phase/time difference introduces the risk of fragmentation and loss of coherence. • Greece also supports enlargement he geographical coverage of ”Blue Growth” topic BG 1, in order to include other areas of crucial European importance, such as the Mediterranean region. It has to be taken into consideration, both the fragile nature of the Mediterranean ecosystems, as well as the delicate geopolitical situation in the region. R&D cooperation between North and South Mediterranean countries should be encouraged as well. Αθηνα, 16 Οκτωβρίου 2013
