  2. When was the event? Where was the event? • The March On Washington was on August 28, 1963 • It was in Washington D.C. at the Washington monument and walked to the Lincoln memorial

  3. Why and How did it happen? Why/ How did it happen? It was a march for Jobs and Freedom. The March of Washington was the passage of Civil Rights legislation.

  4. Who was involved? The Big Six • Martin Luther King Jr., John F Kennedy,James Farmer, The N.A.A.C.P, Roy Wilkins, Philip Randolph and John Lewis.

  5. What Happened? What Happened? -People all over the world came to march. _ 250,000 People were white. _ There were peaceful musical performance.

  6. What was the result of the event? • Kings I have a dream speech concluded the day.

  7. 5 Interesting Facts • Kennedy discouraged march for fear it would make legislature vote against civil rights. • Kings speech remains one of the most famous speeches in American history. • The handbill was donated by Rev. Walter Fauntroy. • Americans of all races gathered to petition the government to pass civil rights legislation and enforce laws.
