Let Us Elect Campaign MEPI Alumnus AHMEDAL ARIFI AL BIBAS LIBYANGROUP The problem Evaluation The problem is that Libyan’s didn’t get involved in the election process before and hence most of them didn’t know any thing about elections and how to participant in them. NGOs in Libya have the right to observe the election however, they didn’t have the opportunity to practice their right. • Evaluate the reaction and the benefits of the civil society by creating a Facebook page and watch how many fans we get and how interactive the members are. Receive calls and emails from the public to assess how beneficial was the program for them. • At the end of the training we will do big election simulation for the volunteers who participated in the observation training program to determine that they know how to run and observe an election. Also we will evaluate them in the first elections and get feedback from the public on their performance. Objective • 1-Public Political Education via distributing flyers, making showing short cartoon movies and airing FM radio programs. 2-Equip the NGOs with the knowledge and experience on how to observe the election and what’s the best practices of election law. 3-Build a solid ground of observation in Libya and new generation of observers around Libya. 4-Encourage the youths to involve in the political fields. Facts Budget and Collaborators Activities 1. Libya is going to experience their first elections – no previous experience in this field. 2. The Libyans are not educated in the political field, and they have no experience in it. 3.The NGOs in Libya didn’t have the opportunity to practice their right in observing the elections . • The project will be funded from our collaborators: • Alleqaa foundation • NDI - Agreed with them, a proposal in progress. • USAID (The Public Political Education Program ) – Already cooperating with us. • MEPI office 1- Bring professional observationaltrainers to train the volunteers, and to have them trainers in the election observation. 2-Design a training for the volunteers to obtain a certificate as certified observation trainer. 3-Training for the volunteers about the best election law practices. 4-Each one of the trainers has to train 20 other volunteer or more and he or she have to be in connect with all of them until the election day. 5–Make flyers and short cartoon movies. As well as, audio program in FM station to educate people on public politics.
