  1. What are the eligibility criteria for appearing in the IFS examination? To appear in the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in India, candidates must meet certain eligibility criteria. The criteria include the following: 1.Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India. 2.Age Limit: The candidate's age must be between 21 and 30 years as of 1st August of the year of examination. Age relaxations are provided for certain categories such as Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), etc. 3.Educational Qualification: The candidate must hold a bachelor's degree from a recognized university. The degree can be in any discipline.

  2. 4.Physical Standards: Candidates must meet the prescribed physical standards for admission to the Indian Foreign Service, as specified by the UPSC. 5.Number of Attempts: There are restrictions on the number of attempts a candidate can make to appear for the IFS examination. The maximum number of attempts varies based on the candidate's category. However, there are certain relaxations for candidates belonging to certain categories, such as SCs, STs, and OBCs. It's important to note that these eligibility criteria are based on the information available up to September 2021. The UPSC may introduce changes or updates to the eligibility criteria, so it is advisable to refer to the official UPSC website or the examination notification for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding the IFS examination eligibility criteria.
