  3. When it first started, the company was producing 20 tyres a day. They began shipping tyres to East Asia towards the end of the 1960s, which was their first export market. Their tyres received the US Department of Transportation (DOT) mark in 1966 and 1988, allowing them to be sold on the American market. Brief History The company expanded its operations internationally in 1963 when it forged a partnership with US tire manufacturer Uniroyal. They established Kumho Tyre as a subsidiary in 1977 to begin collaborating more closely with the UK. Kumho produced more than 30 million tyres overall by 1983, and 100 million by 1990. For the first time, the business received the 10th spot in the TOP-10 list of tire makers globally in 1992.
