  1. Bill Gates Donated $1.2 Billion to Combat Polio Bill Gates rarely backs down from a challenge. After experiencing what he termed “setbacks” last summer, the billionaire philanthropist seemed agitated. On July 13, he tweeted that multiple significant global disasters over the last several years have left many people depressed and questioning if the earth is meant to get even worse. Bill Gates seems to have the strength and determination to accomplish his social battles back a few months later. Therefore, he just pledged an additional $1.2 billion to end polio. On Sunday in Berlin, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation announced its donation to the Global Polio Eradication Program. Bill Gates tweeted that we can #EndPolio and build a safer world by working together again. In an interview with Bloomberg, Gates stated that they are highly focused. According to him, surrendering would result in the paralysis of hundreds of thousands of children.
