  1. Giorgia Meloni Becomes Italy’s Most Far-right Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the head of the Brothers of Italy, has declared victory in a national election. It appears to set her up to become Italy’s first female Prime Minister and the most extremist administration since Benito Mussolini’s fascist period. An alliance of far-right parties headed by Meloni’s Brothers of Italy party is expected to garner at least 44% of the vote. Percentage of Votes The league, led by Matteo Salvini, took almost 9% of the vote. Silvio Berlusconi’s Forza Italia garnered over 8%, and the ultra-conservative Brothers of Italy obtained at least 26% of the vote. Although final results are anticipated later on Monday, forming a new administration will take weeks.
