  2. Foreign objects in the Nose - Introduction What are foreign objects in the nose? A foreign object in your nose is when you have something that's not usually in your nose. It's usually seen in kids, especially toddlers, but it can also affect adults.

  3. Foreign objects in the nose – Objects stuck What types of objects get stuck in the nose? • The majority of objects that enter the nose canal are put there by the earlobe. Common items that are placed in the nose canal include :- • Beads • Food • Paper • Cotton swabs • Rubber erasers • Small toys • Marbles, and shells.

Foreign objects in the nose – Signs and Symptoms If your child has a foreign body in their nose, they may have symptoms such as:- • Breathing problems through the affected nose. • Feeling something in their nose. • Nasal discharge that is foul-smelling or blood-like Irritation, especially in babies. • Pain in the nose

Foreign objects in the nose – Action to be taken If an object becomes lodged in the nose, follow these steps:- • Don't use cotton swabs or other tools to try to get at the object. • Try not to inhale it by taking a deep breath, but just breathe out through your mouth until it's gone. • If it's only one nostril that's affected, try blowing out the nose gently to try and get it out. • If it's both nostrils affected, close the other one with gentle pressure and blow out through the affected one. • If it's visible and easy to grab with tweezers, go for it. • If that doesn't work, call for help or go to the local emergency room.

Foreign objects in the Ear – When to see a doctor Call for emergency when:- Emergency situations in which the removal of an object, including a nose ring, stud, or broken glass, is not possible or only partially possible, or the object poses an immediate danger, or the patient has a bleeding nose that cannot be stopped, or a foul-smelling fluid is draining from the nose, are all eligible for emergency treatment.
