Maharashtra Gives Its Nod to Adani’s Dharavi Project Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has approved the Adani group’s proposal to rehabilitate residents of Mumbai’s 590-acre Dharavi locality, home to over 900,000 Indians, almost eight months after the conglomerate won a tender to develop India’s largest slum.

  2. The state’s housing department said on Friday that Adani group will be the government’s partner for the Dharavi redevelopment project, which involves an investment of at least $3 billion. Mint has reviewed a copy of the letter termed a “government resolution.”

  4. The letter said: “Government’s decision: As the main partner for the implementation of Dharavi Redevelopment Project under Dharavi Notified Area, the maximum bidder is (mainly) Adani Properties Pvt. Ltd. The tender of ₹5,069 crore is being approved for the appointment.”

  5. After several failed attempts by multiple administrators in the past, if the government’s latest decision gets implemented, the Adani group, which also runs the airport in the city, will be contracted to transform the slum into apartments, offices and malls.
