  1. There are several myths about sleeping with wet hair. We hear different reasons for that from our grandmas or mothers who have heard from their mothers. That taking a shower before bed could get you sick. You can catch a cold or have a weak immune system. Sleeping with wet Hair

  2. Scientific theory about sleeping with wet hair Professor of medicine at Vanderbilt Medical Center, Dr. William Schaffner says. “The concept of getting ill while sleeping with wet hair seems to fit into the old bit of folklore that getting yourself chilled and wet will cause you to come down with a cold,”

  3. It'll make you feel cold Whether it’s winter or summer, sleeping with wet hair side effects causes cold. In winter the cold just needs a reason to attack you and make you sick. In summer the habit could lead to cold as most of us live in hotter places and prefer to sleep with AC on in the room. This not only damages your hair but also puts your health at risk.

  4. Sleeping with wet hair side effects of the weak immune system The folklore might be right as the microorganism found on your pillow or bedsheet, feels more alive when dampen. And you can come down with an infection or feel sick or cold. This act of carelessness could lead to you getting a bug or influenza.

  5. Increase bacteria growth One thing for sure we know that the combination of water and warmth leads to the growth of bacteria. The same as these small bugs could attack you as there are chances of your getting an infection or worse. Your soaked pillow could provide a destructive battleground for these microorganisms to attack you. Changing your bedsheet often might help, as well as washing them in hot or warm water.

  6. Cause hair breakage Hair is at its weakest when wet, so it’s not a piece of news that sleeping with wet hair could break the hair follicles. A wet hair may break or develop split ends easily as compared to dry hair. The friction of wet hair on the damp pillow could damage your hair.

  7. You'll spend more time styling your hair Sleeping with wet hair side effects includes more styling than usual. As you might have heard about the term ‘bed head’. As your hair dries, it sets into the spot. When you rest, your hair turns into a wide range of odd styles, and if it’s drying while you rest, it’ll set that way as well.

  8. Can cause hair loss Yes, you heard it right, the habit of sleeping with wet hair can cause hair loss. You might suffer from pattern baldness or scalp ringworm. The dampness or sleeping over soaked pillow might result in scalp ringworm.

  9. Causes dandruff The water in your hair might attract and may multiply the growth of the microorganisms on your pillow resulting in dandruff. Laying down with wet hair strips off the oil in your hair. The combination of microbe’s development and the loss of common oils in your hair will make your scalp bound to create dandruff.

  10. Makes your hair dull At the point when the pillow consumes the water from your hair into its the surface and the oil from your hair as well. This process may dry your hair, take the shine away and make them look dull.

  11. It causes acne As our research earlier mentioned that sticking of damp hair on your skin and the soaking water on your pillow will add up to cause you facial acne.

  12. How to avoid sleeping with wet hair and taking proper care of your hair • Towel-dry your hair when you complete the process of showering • Allow your hair to dry legitimately by letting them breath through the air and abstain from wrapping it firmly or putting it up in a bun before you rest • Use a diffuser on the hair dryer or cotton cloth to dry your hair or to dispose of any excess water • Avoid leaving your hair covered in a towel while you rest, as that might generate the growth of microorganisms.
