The view of security is more focused after Sept.11… • Even the increasing number of crimes committed over the Internet were not enough to bring a majority of Americans to the point of agreeing that more security is needed. However after Sept. 11. They realized more security is more worth less privacy.
After September 11…. • Government approved bill “Combating Terrorism Act 2001” -This bill gives greater wiretapping power to law enforcement officials - Expands the situation in which monitoring can take place - U.S attorney or state general the authority to install the carnivores/ DCS1000 surveillance system - FBI also introduced the program, echelon, which is for international electronic eavesdropping.
Privacy OR Security Spider • Software programs that travel cyberspace and look for specific kinds of information and index it. ( belong to search engine. College private company.) Worms • categorized with computer virus because they are spared internet users via specific e-mails (Personnel's hard drive, like credit card number) Fire walls and engravers program helps our computer but nothing is completely secure….
Privacy VS Security • In conclusion…… • The way people focused on has changed. The government area is the one that has taken the forefront and that has become the legislative process. Congress will most likely maintain focuses until the war against terrorism is over and legislator are not likely to pass any law regarding individual privacy rights until that time….
