Social Reforms: • Second Reform Bill of 1867- Granted virtual suffrage to adult males • Third Reform Bill of 1884-granted franchise to agricultural labourers • Education Act of 1870-primary education made available to every child in England • Trade Unions legalized in 1871 Origins
Industrial and technological development: • Establishment of railway lines • Use of Power looms-made Britain superior in Cotton and textile • Also held supremacy in shipping and iron and steel industry • Great Exhibition of 1851-established Britain as the leading industrial power • Discovery of anaesthesia, antiseptic and vaccination improved the life of people
