A few facts about the FTSE100… • Female directors increased from 6.9% (1999) to 11.7% (2008) • An increase to 5 women CEOs in 2008 • Only 2 female chairwomen • 1,877 women directors in the pipeline waiting to be appointed to Boards • 22 companies have exclusively all-male boards • 149 new appointees to the FTSE100 in 2008 • only 16 (10.7%) were women • 40% of returning mums feel they have no chance at career progression Cranfield University School of Management The Female FTSE Report 2008
