Who We Are… • Small, rural elementary school • One elementary, one middle and one high school • 75-80% of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch • Our building is over 50 years old • Very little diversity • Two main employers in our community is the hospital and school system • 37 certified staff / 23 classified • 450 of the best kids in the world!
Where we started in the fall of 2013… • New principal and assistant principal hired in July 2013 • Overall accountability score was 49.4 • Ranked at the 11th percentile • Needs improvement classification • According to the spring 2013 TELL survey, CCES scored 20-30 percentage points below other Kentucky schools • EVERYONE WAS READY FOR CHANGE!
Where we are now… • Overall accountability score is 67.9 • Ranked at the 73rd percentile • Proficient/Progressing classification • According to the spring 2015 TELL survey, CCES increased in all areas and rose above the state average in several areas
What happened? LEADER IN ME Making the decision: • All teachers visited a school implementing LIM • Team of teachers attended the symposium • All staff participated in The Leader in Me Book Study • 100% voted to implement LIM
Leadership Where are we now? • By expanding our leadership to staff, students and families we knew we could change the vision and the future of CCES. • Leadership is an ongoing learning experience • Students • Staff • Families
