Interview We interviewed our family members who migrated to know their points of view about migrated. We inquired about: • Type of migration • Reasons of migration • Effects of migration • Challenges faced due to migration • Changes/Impacts of migration Fatima Johra Dr.Sibat Ashrafi
Our family members migrated abroad. Both of them performed External migration. They performed Intercontinental migration as both of them migrated to a different continent from Asia. Areebah: My aunt immigrated to another country, which is Canada. She gained citizenship of that country after going there. Her original country is Bangladesh. She took up new residence there. Nimat:My cousion sister migrated to another country which is America. She gained citizenship of that country after going there. Her original country is Bangladesh. She took up new residence there. Reasons for Migration The reasons we found for migration are: • For better education • For better lifestyle • For better job opportunities • Exploring new places and people • Staying with life partner
Positive Effects: • Better facilities • Better jobs and salaries • Getting good education and studying opportunities • Better quality of life • Remittances Effects of Migration
Negative Effects: • Staying away from family • Missing friends and close ones • Expenses increase • Cultural barriers • Restrictions while performing certain festivals • Not getting the opportunities to meet family and country Effects of Migration
Challenges faced due to migration • Travelling alone to a country where she never went to before • Travelling a very long distance • New laws and rules • Exposed to a new environment • Less people to share their feelings
Getting introduced to new cultures • Meeting new types of people • Learning about the migrated country • Becoming more accepting and open - minded • Gaining more knowledge • Become independent • Doing her work by herself Changes/Impacts of Migration
