  1. The Art and Method of Hand-Cleaned Windows

  2. Window cleaning by hand is a delicate art as well as a necessary task for preserving the cleanliness and clarity of glass surfaces. In contrast to industrial or mechanical cleaning techniques, streak-free outcomes from hand washing need patience, dexterity, and the correct equipment. A number of phases are involved in the process, all of which add to the windows' ultimate transparency and brightness.

  3. To start with, it's important to have the appropriate tools. The essentials are a microfiber towel, a pail of water with a small amount of mild detergent mixed in, a squeegee, and a sponge or cloth. Professionals may also use a window scraper to get rid of tough paint or debris. The detergent should be strong enough to cut through oil and filth but mild enough not to break the window glass or frames.

  4. Preparing the window surface is the first step in the actual cleaning process. To get rid of any loose dust and grime, wipe down the window with a moist sponge or towel. By taking this initial step, you can make sure that the squeegee won't become clogged or harm the glass when using it. After the surface has been prepared, the entire window pane is cleaned using a sponge or cloth dipped in soapy water, being sure to cover all surfaces, especially the corners and edges where dirt frequently collects.

  5. The most important step is to use the squeegee. A streak-free finish can only be achieved with the use of this instrument. Pulling the squeegee across the glass in a smooth, even manner begins at the top corner of the window. To make sure that no soap or water is left behind, each stroke should slightly overlap the one before it. To avoid streaks, it's crucial to wipe the squeegee blade with a fresh towel after each pass to get rid of extra water and soap.

  6. Using a microfiber towel, any leftover water or soap residue is removed from the window sill and borders after squeegeeing. Because microfiber is so absorbent and leaves no lint behind, it's perfect for leaving a pristine finish. Minor defects can be fixed with a light polish using the microfiber towel, or a second pass with the squeegee may be required for windows that have persistent spots or streaks.
