Proposed projects • Converting REACT (economic analysis of short term rehabilitation) program from DOS to Windows for TRH 12 • Guidelines for the performance of binder distributors • Guidelines for the use of RAP in HMA • Design & use of slurry seals • Sealing in winter
AsAc publications • Updating TG 1 (2007) • Use of modified binders in road construction • Updating TG 2 (2008) • Bitumen stablised materials • New TG 3 (2008) • Asphalt reinforcement membranes
Standard test methods • Reformating of asphalt test methods from TMH 1 to SANS format • Development of test methods for certifying binder distributors • Reformating TG 1 test methods for modified binders into SANS format
Videos to DVDs Reformating videos onto DVD format • DVD 100 • Bitumen tests • Bitumen emulsion tests • HMA tests • Bitumen rubber tests • DVD 200 • Repairs & maintenance of black top roads • DVD 300 • Manufacture, paving & compaction of HMA
Summary • Electronic copies of all manuals available free of charge on www.sabita.co.za or students CD • Aim is to partner with Road Authorities to assist with transfer of knowledge to new entrants • Disseminate info through SAT & AsAc • Sabita committed to ensure documents reflect best practice so that we have a well informed industry
