Requirements. Students in grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th will be required to read one book of their choice from the approved reading list supplied.Students will complete a written and/or visual reading product from the approved product list. Each product is designed to enhance writing skills for the students, as well as reading skills. .

2. Requirements Students in grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th will be required to read one book of their choice from the approved reading list supplied.
Students will complete a written and/or visual reading product from the approved product list.
Each product is designed

the students, as well as reading
skills.
3. Requirements To encourage parent involvement with
the summer reading project, each student will be given a reading log to document time shared with the parent - reading and discussing their book.
The parent log will be sent home with the parent letter, book list, and list of products to choose from.
A rubric which will be used for grading will also be provided.

7. Products for Summer Reading Make a picture book of the novel.
Pick a scene from the book and rewrite it as a play.
Build a miniature stage setting or diorama of a scene in the book.
Construct puppets and present a show of one or more interesting parts of the book.
Write and perform an original song that tells the story of the book.
8. Products for Summer Reading Write a full (physical and emotional characterization) description of two of the characters in the book. Draw a portrait to accompany each description.
Create a newspaper for your book.
Create a PowerPoint presentation describing the elements of fiction (setting, plot, characters, theme, mood) as they relate to your book.
9. Products for Summer Reading Create a board game that incorporates the characters, setting, and plot of the novel.
Choose one of the main characters and rewrite a scene or the plot from his/her point of view.
Create a tri-fold brochure or
pamphlet advertising your novel.
