Schedule Shutdown’s MS1, MS2, MS3, NS0, NS1, NS2, MS4
Typical Problems Found: • Bad HV Switch Operators • Bad Heaters • Some HV Cable Corona • Bad 500 Amp Molded Case Breaker • Rusted Out Cubical • 480 Volt Main Breakers Failing to reclose – trip rod device hangs up
At Y-ML5, termination mismatch – shield is above the stress cone of the back cable – corona found. Corrective – re-tape and increase spacing between cables
At Y-ML6, Y-ML5, and Y-ML10 – rusted interiors on the side that is next to the roadway
At Y-ML6, Y-ML5, and Y-ML10 – Some of the correctives used on the rusted Interiors.
Typical Allis-Chalmers 1500KVA Substation Low Voltage 480 Volt Section High Voltage Section
On Y-ML10, Bad High Voltage Switch Operator (Was replaces with operator from NS4 NL6A )
On Y-ML10, “A” Phase fiberglass operator broke after several switch operation during the replacement of the failed high voltage switch operator. Failure point
