WHAT IS IT? • Binge drinking is the consumption of large amounts of alcohol in a very short period of time. • Binge drinking can cause alcohol poisoning, which can be fatal. • Binge drinking becomes even more deadly when coupled with other medications or drugs, illness, stress, or an empty stomach.

  3. SYMPTOMS OF ALCOHOL POISONING • Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol to the point of vomiting • Semiconscious or unconscious • Cold, clammy, pale, or bluish skin • Slow breathing (the person breathes less than 8 times per minute or has 10 seconds or more between breaths) • Vomiting while sleeping or unconscious & not waking up after vomiting

  4. WHAT SHOULD YOU DO? • Never leave the person alone • Turn the person on his or her side and check their pulse and breathing periodically • GET HELP! Call someone who can help: the emergency medical services, the military police, or the unit commander • If you are not sure what to do, remember that it is “better to be safe than sorry. Taking the person to an emergency room could save their life.
