  2. Women’s Clothing • Women wore long dresses, and sometimes they wore petticoats. Women wore corsets around their waists. • A long-sleeve fitted waistcoat was often worn over the top, and an apron was worn if the woman was doing any kind of work. • Common colors included red, earthy greens, browns, blues, violets, and grays.

  3. Men’s Clothing • For the upper body, men usually wore a long or short sleeved shirt with collar and cuffs. Breeches were worn. • White, beige, black, earthy green and brown were the common colors for men.

  4. What did the children wear ? • Young boys and girls both wore dresses or gowns. While they were growing up, boys start to wear clothing similar to their fathers. And girls began to wear dresses more like mothers. • Blue color are common for children.
