Customizing Your AI Traffic • FS2002 AI traffic is a “simulator within a simulator.” • It’s surprisingly easy to customize AI: • Use Lee Swordy’s “Traffic Tools” program to decompile FS2002’s Traffic.Bgl file => • Aircraft.txt • Airports.txt • Flightplans.txt • Modify the text files and compile. • That’s all!
Aircraft.Txt File Aircraft #9981-9985 were added by LAGO for their Honolulu scenery.
Flightplans.Txt File Flight plans with arrows were added by LAGO for their Honolulu scenery.
Airports.Txt File Arrow points to format for adding airports.
Adding Parking • Frequently, default FS2002 airports do not have enough parking for AI aircraft. • Aircraft may land and disappear! • Again, Lee Swordy has provided a solution: • AFCAD Program • AFCAD imports third-party text files to add gate and ramp parking to airports. • AFCAD then modifies FS2002 airport and facility data. • “Overlays” can be used for other benefits!
Other AI Tools • There are several programs that use Traffic Tools for manipulation of the AI text files. • AI Traffic Mover by • Traffic Planner by • yRoute by • etc. • Some have more features than others. • AI Traffic Mover has analysis tools.
AI Files • There are many files available for adding: • Simplified AI aircraft models - framerate aid • Flightplans • WorldAI2.Zip by Ian Webber has 208 worldwide real airline flight plans! • AFCAD files to add gates and ramp parking • There are new web sites dedicated to AI: • Project AI has gmax AI aircraft and flight plans • Try adding some AI traffic - you’ll like it!
