  3. A FRACTION is an EQUAL PART out of a WHOLE An equal piece or part out of a given whole It is number that names one or parts out of a whole which is divided into equal parts

  5. STEPS FOR WORKING FRACTION PROBLEM SUMS Step #1: Read the whole sum thoroughly and carefully. Analyze or think about it. Look for patterns. (Whole given/No Whole given) Step #2: Underline/Take note of the important information. Step #3: Use the information given to form statements and work your sums. What fraction of the games did I win? • Total games played = 20 • No. games lost = 5 • Number of game drew = 4 • ∴ Number of games won = 20 – (5+4) = 11 • Fraction won = = = • If I want to make a fraction a percentage, simply MULTIPLY BY 100 ( x 100) • Percentage won = x = 55%
