  4. ABOUT AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL America, the Beautiful Series honors the nation's historic landmarks, national parks, and national lakeshores. The Series encompasses all 50 U.S. states and the five U.S. territories of Guam, American Samoa, the American Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Mariana Islands. A coin honoring Washington, D.C.'s federal district is also a part of the collection. 04

  5. DESIGN OF AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL Reverse-designed quarters honoring national parks and sites were distributed to recognize each park or site as a national site. Three states' quarters feature parks or locations previously featured on state quarters. (Grand Canyon in Arizona, Yosemite in California, and Mount Rushmore in South Dakota). They have new designs even if they show the exact locations. A privy mark is also present on the obverses of the quarters minted at West Point in 2020. Inside the outline of the Rainbow Pool at the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC, the text "V75," commemorating the 75th anniversary of the conclusion of World War II, is incorporated into the pool design. 05

  6. ESTABLISHED OF AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL The United States Mint's 50 State Quarters initiative is where the America the Beautiful coins got their start. This coin series, which was authorized in December 1997 and first made available in 1999, has a distinctive reverse design on circulating quarters. The regular American 25-cent piece was unchanged in terms of metal composition or size, but each of the Union's 50 states was represented by a unique site. The US Mint decided to issue a Territories and DC program in honor of Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the US Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands, as well as Washington, D.C., as a result of the circulating commemorative program's enormous popularity and success. It was decided in 2008 that a unique bullion coin series was required to capitalize on the appeal of the circulation coins. 06
