  1. What Are The Different Types Of Standard Block Paving In Kent?

  2. Block paving, or brick paving, is a technique where bricks are used instead of other paving materials. The advantage of this technique is that each brick is laid individually. Therefore, they can be easily removed and replaced in case of damage. In the long run, block paving is low maintenance and affordable. You can find three types of block paving in Kent: standard block paving, tegula paving and natural cobblestones. This article discusses standard block paving. There are different styles of standard block paving, and here are 5 common patterns: Stretcher bond: It is a common style of paving, usually used in driveways and gardens. Here the longest side of the brick is laid longitudinally. Hand- built paving circles are laid in this style. It is also known as a running bond or half bond. Once the first row is laid, the second row is placed exactly the same way, offset by a half-brick measurement. 

  3. Basketweave: You cannot miss the basketweave if you are looking for a visually magical pattern. Here two bricks are laid horizontally, and the next two bricks are placed vertically beside it. This design is repeated for the entire space. It is easy to install, and the results look like a basket, hence the name. 

  4. Herringbone: The herringbone is an aesthetic design that is easy to make. Here the bricks are laid at a 90-degree angle to one another. It creates an interesting zig-zag pattern. If you are using coloured bricks, you must try out the herringbone bond for your garden. Jack-on-jack: It is, again, a simple pattern. The bricks are laid on top of each other. However, unlike stretcher bonds, they all line up neatly, forming sharp rows and columns. If you want a minimal and clear-cut aesthetic, it is the best outdoor enhancement choice. Pinwheel: This style of paving resembles a common pinwheel design. Traditionally the pattern requires four and a half bricks. The half brick is placed in the middle, and the four bricks are laid around it. The craftsman would require neat brick-cutting skills to perfect this design.   
