  1. EVERYTHING ONE NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT LAZY EYES

  2. WHAT IS A LAZY EYE? Lazy eye occurs when your brain favors one eye, usually because of low vision in the other eye. Then, your brain will ignore the signals of that weak "lazy" eyes. This could cause vision loss and depth perception in particular. The medical term used to describe lazy eyes refers to "amblyopia." The affected eye may not appear differently, but it could "wander" across different directions. That's where the expression "lazy" is derived from. The condition typically only be affecting one eye however, in some instances there are instances when the vision of both eyes could be impaired. The condition typically occurs in children. It is the most common reason for decreased vision in children. It can also affect adults, but there is treatment for lazy eye. It is important to remember that lazy eyes aren't the same thing as an eye that is turned or crossed. This condition is known as strabismus. However, strabismus may cause amblyopia if the crossed eye is not getting as much usage than the one that is not crossed. If amblyopia remains untreated, permanent or temporary loss of vision may be experienced. This could include loss of depth perception and 3D vision. Read more about: Adult lazy eye treatment

  3. WHAT ARE THE INDICATORS OF LAZY EYES? Amblyopia is often difficult to spot until it is severe. Early warning signs are: • the tendency to crash into objects on the opposite side • an eye wanders either outward or inward • eyes that don't appear to be able to cooperate • poor depth perception • double vision • Squinting

  4. WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF LAZY EYES? Amblyopia can be a result of neurological problems that affect your brain. In this instance the neural pathways in the brain responsible for processing visual information aren't functioning properly. This happens when your eyes aren't getting equally much use. Certain circumstances and variables can cause you to depend on an eye in particular more so than another. They include: • Continuous strabismus or the turning of one eye • genetics or a family background of amblyopia • various levels of vision in both the eye's • injury to your eye caused by trauma to your eyes • You may notice a drooping eyelids • Vitamin A deficiency • Corneal ulcer or scar • Eye surgery

  5. Vision impairments, like close sightedness, far sightedness astigmatism, astigmatism • Glaucoma This is a condition that results from high pressure in your eye that could cause blindness and vision problems. • The eye you use less becomes ("lazy") with time. WHAT IS THE TREATMENT FOR LAZY EYES? Treatment of underlying eye problems can be the best method to combat amblyopia. Also, you must help the damaged eye to develop normally. Treatment options for early signs are straightforward and could include eyeglasses, contact lenses eye patches, drops for the eyes or even lazy eye vision therapy. The sooner you receive treatments, the more favourable are the outcomes. However, recovery might be possible if your amblyopia has been identified and treated as you get older.

  6. WHAT IS THE TREATMENT FOR LAZY EYES? GLASSES/CONTACT LENSES If you suffer from amblyopia due to the fact that you're either farsighted or near-sighted or suffer from astigmatism in your one eye prescribed glasses and contact lenses can be prescribed. EYE PATCH Applying an eye patch to your dominant eye may aid in strengthening your weaker eye. The doctor might recommend wearing the patch for 1 to 2 hours per day, based on how severe your amblyopia is. The patch can help you to develop the brain region which controls your vision. EYE DROPS Drops can be applied at least once or twice per day to reduce the clarity of healthy eye. As with eye patches, it encourages you to utilize your eye that is weaker. This is a different option to applying an eye patch.

  7. SURGERY If you've got crossed eyes , or have eyes that are pointed towards opposite direction, then you could need surgery to repair the muscles in your eye. Apart from this computer vision syndrome has also become common due to excessive viewing of computer which affects both children and adults. Excessive viewing causes eye strainas a result of which eye muscles becomes weak. CONCLUSION While amblyopia may in certain instances cause vision loss or blindness, it's usually treatable, especially when detected early. Speak to a doctor in case you suspect that the child or you could be suffering from amblyopia and requires lazy eye treatment.
