Both domestic and international manufacturers have been quick to capitalize on the growing demand for electric mobility by launching a diverse range of EV models in the country. In 2023, several notable electric vehicles were launched in the base to mid-to-premium segments, catering to a wide spectrum of consumer preferences and budgets.   2. MG Comet: Launched on 26 April 2023 The MG Comet EV is MG Motor's second electric vehicle offering in India, following the success of the ZS EV. The Comet is essentially a rebranded version of the Wuling Air EV, which is MG's sister brand internationally. Sporting a compact and boxy design, the Comet EV features a two-door layout and can comfortably accommodate up to four passengers. Its dimensions measure approximately 2974 mm in length, 1505 mm in width, and 1640 mm in height, and it boasts a wheelbase of 2010 mm. With a remarkably tight turning circle radius of just 4.2 meters, manoeuvring in urban environments becomes hassle-free. The price of MG Comet EV starts at Rs. 7.98 Lakh and goes up to Rs. 9.98 Lakh. Powering the MG Comet is a 17.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that claims to offer an impressive range of 230 kilometres on a single charge. The battery has undergone rigorous testing, passed 16 safety assessments, and is rated IP67 for water and dust resistance. The Comet is equipped with an electric motor that delivers 41 bhp of power and 110 Nm of torque, ensuring responsive and efficient performance. Features of the MG Comet include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, a reverse parking camera, rear parking sensors, LED rear fog lamp, follow-me-home headlamps, a tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear seat belt reminders, driver and co-driver seat belts with load limiters, manual parking brake, manual day/night IRVM, power-adjustable ORVM, manual air conditioning and heater, remote central locking, and more.

  3. HYUNDAI IONIQ 5: Launched on 11 January 2023 Launched at the Auto Expo 2023, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is an innovative electric vehicle that combines futuristic design with cutting-edge technology. With its sleek and aerodynamic exterior, the Ioniq 5 exudes a sense of modernity and sophistication. The spacious and luxurious interior offers a comfortable and eco-friendly driving experience, with features such as vegan leather upholstery and a customizable digital cockpit. The Ioniq 5 gets its power from a 72.6kWh battery. Hyundai IONIQ 5 electric motor is capable of producing 217 bhp/350 Nm of torque. The 2023 Ioniq 5 is also capable of supporting superfast 800V charging, which can charge the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 electric SUV is priced at Rs 44.95 lakh (ex-showroom). There is a single variant on offer. Mahindra has priced the XUV 400 at Rs 15.99 lakh-18.99 lakh ex-showroom. The Mahindra XUV400 is equipped with a range of impressive features including a 7.0- inch touchscreen integrated with Mahindra's AdrenoX software, providing a seamless and intuitive user interface. Additionally, it offers a single-pane sunroof, advanced connected car technology, and over-the-air (OTA) updates. Safety is prioritized with up to six airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels for enhanced braking performance, and an IP67 rating for the battery pack, ensuring protection against dust and water ingress. Furthermore, the inclusion of ISOFIX anchors ensures the secure and convenient installation of child seats.

The Citroen C3 EV is a stylish and efficient electric vehicle that combines practicality with a modern design. With its sleek lines and distinctive features, the C3 EV stands out on the road. The C3 EV features a spacious and comfortable interior, offering ample legroom and cargo space for passengers. The C3 EV is offered at a starting price of Rs. 11.50 lakh and goes up to Rs. 12.43 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in four distinct variants. The Citroen C3 EV is equipped with a 29.2 kWh battery pack, delivering an impressive, claimed range of 320 kilometres on a single charge. Its electric motor showcases capable performance, generating 57 bhp of peak power and 143 Nm of maximum torque. Accelerating from 0 to 60 kmph in just 6.8 seconds, the E-C3 EV offers swift acceleration, reaching a top speed of 107 kmph. The Citroen C3 EV offers a range of features including a 10.2-inch touchscreen, featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a four-speaker music system, a height-adjustable driver seat, and MyCitroen Connect app enabling connected vehicle technology. This feature allows users to conveniently locate their car, track its current location, and easily find nearby charging stations.
