The term "prescribed course of study" is defined in as "a non-degree academic program with a specific educational objective." • Institution certification—The college or the university where you plan to study needs to be approved by SEVP Immigration & Customs Enforcement. Full-time enrollment—You must be enrolled as a full-time student at the institution while your academic term is in session. • To maintain your status as an F-1 or M-1 student in the United States, you must enroll in a full course of study at the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)-certified school where a designated school official (DSO) issued you the Form I-20, “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status,” you used.

  6. Students and Employment • The F-1 Visa (Academic Student) allows you to enter the United States as a full-time student at an accredited college, university, seminary, conservatory, academic high school, elementary school, or other academic institution or in a language training program. You must be enrolled in a program or course of study that culminates in a degree, diploma, or certificate and your school must be authorized by the U.S. government to accept international students. • F-1 students may also be eligible to work off-campus on a case-by-case basis as a result of special situations such as severe economic hardship or special student relief. 7. Apply For Your U.S. Student Visa: Undergraduate • Applying for a U.S. Student Visa (F1 Visa) for undergraduate studies involves several essential steps. First, secure admission to a U.S. educational institution and obtain the Form I-20 from the school. This form is crucial as it establishes your eligibility for the F1 visa. Following this, pay the required SEVIS fee online, using the SEVIS ID provided on your Form I-20. • Next, complete the DS-160 form online, ensuring accuracy in your responses. Upon submission, you'll receive a confirmation receipt with a barcode. Schedule a visa interview at the U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country. • Attend the visa interview, where you can expect questions about your intended course of study, plans in the U.S.

  8. Can an F1 visa student travel in any city, in the USA? • Yes, generally, an F1 visa student can travel to and visit various cities within the United States. The F1 visa is specifically for students pursuing academic studies in the U.S., and it allows them to travel freely within the country. • It's important to note that while F1 students can travel within the U.S., international travel may require additional planning. Always check the latest guidance from U.S. immigration authorities and stay informed about any travel-related updates or requirements. If you have specific concerns or questions, it's advisable to consult with your school's international student office or a legal advisor familiar with immigration regulations.

  9. How can I pass my F-1 visa in the second time around? • Securing an F-1 visa on a second attempt requires a strategic and thorough approach. Begin by meticulously reviewing the reasons for the initial denial, as understanding the specific concerns raised is crucial. Address these concerns head-on by providing additional documentation that reinforces your ties to your home country and showcases your intent to return after completing your studies. Strengthen your financial case with updated and comprehensive evidence, such as bank statements, affidavits of support, and sponsorship letters. • Furthermore, emphasize your strong connections to your home country, whether through family, employment, or community affiliations. Seek guidance from the international student office at your U.S. institution, as they can offer valuable insights and assistance in preparing a robust visa application. During the visa interview, be prepared to discuss the reasons for the previous denial with clarity and confidence, emphasizing any positive changes or clarifications made in your application. Finally, ensure consistency and honesty throughout the process, and consider professional assistance if needed. While success is not guaranteed, a well-prepared and comprehensive application significantly enhances your chances of a positive outcome on your second attempt.
