Then around 1750thechainsremained,buttheglassbuttonsstartedtobereplacedby decorativebuttonsmadeofjewels,usuallydiamonds.Ofcourse,thatalso emphasised wealth, because the man in the street could hardly afford diamonds oremeraldsorrubies.
