  1. What Can You Do About Limescale In Your Bathroom?

  2. Limescale is a huge problem for many homeowners, causing problems when it fills pipes, reduces water pressure or makes shower doors cloudy. Coming from water that contains a high concentration of calcium and magnesium, otherwise known as hard water, limescale is common, but relatively easy to minimize: Good old vinegar As vinegar is acidic, it can effectively cut through limescale and keep the fixtures and fittings in a bathroom looking as shiny as new. Use it neat on faucets and other fittings to help keep limescale at bay and prevent staining. If you have fixtures that can be removed, then place them in a big bucket filled with vinegar and leave them there for an hour. Once the hour is up, take them out and use a toothbrush to gently scrub away any remaining limescale.

  3. If your shower door is affected with limescale, you could try soaking a paper towel in vinegar and draping it over the worst areas. As with the fixtures and fittings, leave the vinegar to soak in for up to an hour, then use a toothbrush to scrub away any remaining mineral deposits. To help prevent limescale from getting the chance to build up on your shower door, spray it liberally with vinegar after every use and wipe it down. Buy a water softener Vinegar is fantastic as a cleaning product in bathrooms affected by limescale, but it’s not able to flush the limescale out of pipes, and over time, mineral deposits will fill them and cause them to become clogged and reduce the water pressure.

  4. If you live in a hard water area, this may be a permanent issue. One way of minimizing the effects of hard water, is to buy a water softener appliance, that works by replacing calcium and magnesium with sodium. Softened water is flushed through a home’s pipes via a water softener tank, that must be regularly refilled with salt. Buy an electronic de-scaler These de-scalers work by softening water and removing hard water deposits from the inside of pipes, and needing no maintenance or salt to be added, they can continue to work effectively for many years.

  5. If your bathroom is blighted with limescale and looks unsightly, getting rid of it all could take many hours of your valuable time, not to mention a whole lot of elbow grease! Wouldn’t it be simpler to hire a professional to come in and get it all looking clean and as good as new, for you?
