As silly as it may sound, many of us beat ourselves up over not being able to keep our homes as clean as our friends and neighbours, even when we have a perfectly valid reason for not doing so. Human nature is often competitive, and when we see others doing things that we think we should be doing but are unable to do so – for whatever reason – we reprimand ourselves and look for reasons to excuse our behaviour.

  2. As silly as it may sound, many of us beat ourselves up over not being able to keep our homes as clean as our friends and neighbours, even when we have a perfectly valid reason for not doing so. Human nature is often competitive, and when we see others doing things that we think we should be doing but are unable to do so – for whatever reason – we reprimand ourselves and look for reasons to excuse our behaviour. The reality is that many of us have schedules that simply don’t allow us the time to ensure that our homes are kept as clean as the Jones’s, and while we may feel guilty about that fact, we have absolutely no reason to.
