  1. 4 Facts about the Pregnancy Wheel What Is the Pregnancy Wheel:- Chances are, if you have ever been to an OBGYN appointment, or even in an OBGYN’s office, you have seen a pregnancy wheel. What is it? It’s a small plastic or paper wheel that is used as a gestational calendar. Doctors use them to help determine a woman’s due date, based on the date of her last menstrual period, as well as other factors. They are usually found in doctor’s offices, hospitals, and other health clinics. How Does It Work:- The pregnancy wheel itself is very basic. You simply spin the wheel around to the corresponding spot and it tells you the estimated due date. This is normally based on the date of the first day of the woman’s last menstrual period.

  2. However, this date is hard to pinpoint, since many women don’t know it for sure, so pregnancy wheels are not always accurate. Pregnancy is usually calculated as 266 days from conception, or 280 days from the first day of your last menstrual period. The pregnancy wheel just does the work for you of counting all of those days to determine an estimated due date so you know baby’s birth month. Is It Accurate:- Sometimes. If a woman knows for sure the first day of her last menstrual period, the pregnancy wheel can be a pretty accurate tool. However, all pregnancy wheels are made differently, and this can cause some inconsistencies.

  3. A better way to find out an estimated due date for sure is to have an ultrasound done. Remember, a due date is just an estimate, and it is not a guarantee of the day your baby will come! Some of the online pregnancy wheels even come with extra tools that help you know when you should be able to feel your baby’s movements, when you can hear the heart beat at the doctor, etc. This can make for a more “interactive” experience.
