Today, most of the top decentralized apps are games. But mainstream video games right now are not yet conforming into the blockchain technology. Tony Sheng wrote an article on the reasons why Fortnite might not get into blockchain just yet. But in his article, he pointed out how a lot of developers and investors still look at games as the way to get people to crash into crypto mass adoption. Unfortunately, we still cannot see mass adoption today as he pointed out in two points: games accounting for the majority of non-exchange transactions and the total usage still being devastatingly low.
But people who believe that games could drive mass adoption are also the ones who rely on big gaming companies to possibly adapt to crypto. A tweet from Ryan Adams is just one of the many opinions that this might actually happen. But Sheng claimed that Fortnite or Epic Games really don’t have any good reason to use cryptogoods in their game or cryptocurrencies as a mode of payment. If they are doing great right now with what they have and what they use to cater to the masses, they probably won’t do anything to change it unless a problem poses itself and the only solution is crypto.
