Follow the below-given procedure to complete the process. • Make a new folder on the ‘Desktop’ named QB Test • Open the folder where you have this company file saved • You can copy the ‘Corresponding .tlg’ file and paste it to QuickBooks Test Folder on your Desktop. • Note: You can see the company file location on the ‘Product Information Screen’ and the ‘No Company open window.’ • Reflect/Show File Extensions • Press button Windows+E to open the File Explorer • Now you can Press ‘Organise’ and choose the ‘Folder’ and search options • For Windows 10, 8.1 & 8- Press View & choose the ‘Filename Extension’. • Now choose ‘Hide Extensions’ for the known file types.

Reflect/Show File Extensions • Press button Windows+E to open the File Explorer • Now you can Press ‘Organise’ and choose the ‘Folder’ and search options • For Windows 10, 8.1 & 8- Press View & choose the ‘Filename Extension’. • Now choose ‘Hide Extensions’ for the known file types. • Go to the QBTest folder and right-click ‘QBW.adr file’ & Press ‘Rename’ option • Now delete ‘.adr’ from the end of the file. • Open QuickBooks again ‘Open’ the company file saved in your QBTest folder and verify all transactions are there. • Now ‘Run’ verify utility to ensure the integrity of this company file • If this company file is fine, then you can move the damaged company file to a separate location • Finally, you can transfer a copy from ‘QBTest’ to the original location.

Step 2: Use the Auto Data Recovery Company file and Transaction Log to recover all but the last 12 hours of transactions. • Open the folder where the Company file is stored. % Make note of the path in the No Company Open screen % Open that folder in Windows Explorer Make file extensions visible if necessary %Choose Organize < Folder and search options. %Click the View tab. %Click to clear the Hide extensions for known file types checkbox. Make note of the size and date modified for %Company file (.qbw) %Transaction Log file (.tlg)

  6. Create a new folder, named Old Files. • Move the Company file to the Old Files folder • Open the QuickBooksAutoDataRecovery folder. (It’s in the same folder as the Company file.) • Right-click the copy of the Company file (.qbw.adr) and select Copy. • Go back up to the folder where the Company file is stored. • Choose Organize > Paste to copy the file to this folder. • Right-click the Company file (.qbw.adr) and choose Rename. • Delete the .adr from the end of the name of the file. • Go back to the QuickBooksAutoDataRecovery folder. • Right-click the copy of the Transaction Log file (.qbw.tlg.adr) and select Copy • Go back up to the folder where the Company file is stored. • Choose Organize > Paste to copy the file to this folder. • Right-click the copy of the Transaction Log file (.qbw.tlg.adr) and select Rename. • Delete the .adr from the end of name of the file. • Open QuickBooks. • Open the Company file • Use reports or account registers to verify that all but the last 12 hours of transactions were restored. • Important:Transactions created in the last 12 hours of using QuickBooks may need to be recreated. • Use the Verify Data utility.

  7. Step 3- Using Both- Company File and Transaction File- to Restore Data • This is another method for recovering your data, which uses the.QBW.ADR as well as the.TLG.ADR files. You can follow this method through the steps given below- • Right-click on the desktop to create a new folder which you can name as “QB Test”. • Go to your company file’s location folder and look for the “QuickBooks Auto Data Recovery” folder there. You can find this folder using the F2 or Ctrl+1 keys. • In the same folder, find the TLG.adr and the QBW.adr files. This will be easy as they both have the same name, just different first extensions. If you cannot find these, follow step A to E in order to do so. • Copy and paste these two files into the desktop folder named QB Test. Rename these two- QBW.adr file to QBW and the TLG.adr file to TLG. Open your QB application and then go to the File section on the menu-bar. • Click “Utilities” and then “Verify Data” to ensure data integrity. Once proven, replace the older company file with this one.
