India -- Free-Press-Release.com -- Mar 15, 2016 -- Santosh University recently organised a free-of-cost dental health check-up camp on the occasion of International Women's Day. The event was organised by the Department of Periodontics under Santosh Dental College and Hospital to offer free examination and advice related to the dental care. Keeping with the occasion, the huge camp for providing dental aid and advice was put up only for women. The camp invited free registrations from women belonging to every strata of the society as the institution believes that we should not just respect women but keep them healthy and high in spirits. Objective of Dental Health Camps The motto behind holding an event of such stature was to highlight the importance of dental health and care as well as make them aware of the side-effects of illnesses related to teeth and gums. On this occasion, Santosh University laid emphasis over the fact that not everybody knows about the gum-related problems may cause further complications for a pregnant woman and her foetus. Also, the gum-related diseases affecting the adolescents and women during the phase of menopause were focused upon. Street Plays for Dental Health Awareness The event was held for two days including 8th and 9th of March 2016 in the morning time and went on till afternoon. The venue was fixed for both the days at Department of Periodontics, Santosh Dental College and Hospital. The dental students at the university also performed street plays to create awareness about Pyorrhoea and the dental issues affecting pregnant women and those on the verge of menopause. Group Discussion for Women A group discussion was also organised on this occasion to make people understand about the illnesses associated with gums and teeth. About 124 women were examined over the two days of this camp, out of which the severe cases were referred to the specialist doctors. The camp saw active participation from the doctors of various departments including the Dental Dean, Dr. Manoj Goyal. Page 1 of 2
Speaking over the occasion, Dr. Goyal stressed upon observing many more dental health awareness camps in future. Apart from him, Dr. Shweta Bali (Head of Department of Periodontology), Dr. Minu Bhasin, Dr. Priyanka and doctors from other departments pledged for their contribution in making the event a success. Santosh Dental College and Hospital The organising body, Santosh Dental College and Hospital was founded in the year 1995 to serve as the top institution for dental education in the Delhi NCR. Every year, the institution imparts education to around 100 students who choose to go for higher studies in dentistry. The college is run as a part of Santosh University that got affiliation from Chaudhary Charan Singh University in 2007.
