NACE Committee Workspace (NCW)Training • NACE Committee Workspace (NCW) • NACE Committee Workspace is the system we use to collaborate and write standards. • Communication: NCW has a built-in system that allows communication with TG members, so you don’t have to look up their email. It also has a discussion feature that allows mass communication, similar to a message group. • Document storage: Drafts, minutes, agendas, and other supporting information can be uploaded to a committee’s workspace for easy access.
NACE Committee Workspace (NCW)Training • NACE Committee Workspace (NCW) Cont’d • Balloting: All ballots are conducted through NCW using an easy-to-use system. • Project milestones: The NCW Projects feature allows you to track the standard and see where it is in the process.
NACE Committee Workspace (NCW)Training • NACE Committee Workspace (NCW) Cont’d • Action items: Using the action items feature, chairs and vice chairs can assign tasks to members of the TG. • Calendar: You can set deadlines and other important dates using the calendar feature.

NACE Committee Workspace (NCW):Workspace Features • A window pops up and you can fill in the information required to upload the document. Fill it in and click Upload. Check the Email Notification box if you want a message sent to the committee:
NACE Committee Workspace (NCW):Workspace Features • Click on Start a Jot to open a document that you can work on with other committee members in real time. You can use this to take notes, minutes, or work on a draft.
NACE Committee Workspace (NCW):Workspace Features • Documents open for comment will take you to a listing of drafts or other documents that are being worked on and are open for comments for suggested edits. This does NOT take you to ballots.

NACE Committee Workspace (NCW):Workspace Features • Once you are on the Documents page, to the right you will see a small folder icon, click on this and you will see the folders containing the documents relevant to the TG. Clicking on these will take you to a listing of the documents contained in the folder. To add documents, click the green Add button:
NACE Committee Workspace (NCW):Workspace Features • Once in the folder, you can use the Actions button or the blue arrows next to each document to interact. You can see document details, add comments, add revisions, and lock the document from any further revisions:

NACE Committee Workspace (NCW):Workspace Features • After opening the roster, you will have a list of members: • Clicking on a name brings up their profile. You can email them by clicking “Send an Email”:

NACE Committee Workspace (NCW):Workspace Features • The calendar allows you to send reminders out to yourself and TG members regarding meetings and other important events:
NACE Committee Workspace (NCW):Workspace Features • When you click on a calendar date and Add New Event, you will see a screen where you can fill out the information for the reminder, including description, call-in info (if any), and attachments:
NACE Committee Workspace (NCW):Workspace Features • At the bottom, there will be an option to send a message to the group, and any additional group members you designate. Once complete, click Add New Event:
NACE Committee Workspace (NCW):Workspace Features • Clicking on Comments will take you to a screen that shows any comments that have been posted on drafts or other documents in the TG’s library:

NACE Committee Workspace (NCW):Workspace Features • Clicking on Action Items will take you to a screen that allows you to set tasks for members of the committee. Any action items show up as a list. Click on the green Add button to set action items: • Add allows you to add and assign a member of the committee an action item, or you can download a spreadsheet of all action items.

NACE Committee Workspace (NCW):Workspace Features • You can also attach any reference materials and decide whether to inform only the owner, or the entire committee, as well as set reminders for the assignee. Click Save to complete the task:

NACE Committee Workspace (NCW):Workspace Features • Clicking on Discussions will take you to a screen that allows you to send a communication to either all of the members of the committee or to individual committee members:
NACE Committee Workspace (NCW):Workspace Features • The Discussions page shows all of the recent communication that has gone out to the committee. Using the filters, you can display messages by date and/or submitter if you are looking for a specific message. Click on a message title to see the message itself. To send a new message, click New Message:
NACE Committee Workspace (NCW):Workspace Features • The message contents range from notices of new documents being posted to questions posed by a committee member. This is a useful tool to discuss your standards work with your fellow committee members. If you would like to contribute to the conversation, click on Reply:
